A Hippie Stitches Preview
Things are really starting to come together for the upcoming market, and I wanted to share a little behind-the-scenes update from Hippie Stitches. To see my last project update, CLICK HERE.
The Market on Main in Dows is coming up on April 18, and the excitement is definitely building. We already have more than 30 vendors signed up, and it’s shaping up to be a wonderful day of shopping, community, and supporting local makers. There will be such a great mix of handmade items, vintage treasures, and locally created products.
As for me? I’ve been crocheting like crazy and getting inventory ready for my very first Hippie Stitches booth.
Today I thought it would be fun to give you a little preview of some of the things you might see when you stop by.
Vintage Finds with a Hippie Soul
If you know me at all, you probably know how much I love vintage.
The Hippie Stitches style is very much inspired by that country, boho, vintage aesthetic. All things that feel a little nostalgic, a little earthy, and full of personality.
Along with my handmade crochet items, I’ll also have a few vintage pieces available at the booth. Some of my favorites are pieces of 1960s faux turquoise costume jewelry and some really fun 1970s leather jewelry that fit perfectly with that relaxed, boho vibe.
These are the kinds of pieces that add a little character to an outfit and tell their own story.
Handmade Crochet Jewelry
I’ve also been working on some crochet jewelry, which has been such a fun project.
You’ll find a variety of pieces including:
-
Crochet earrings
-
Crochet pendants
-
Small pins and accessories with crochet elements
Some of these pieces are bold and colorful, and others are more subtle. I’ve tried to create a variety so that everyone can find something that fits their personal style.
Boho Crochet Apparel
One of the things I’m most excited about bringing to the market is my collection of boho-inspired crochet apparel.
Mandala Vests
The star of the booth might just be the mandala vests.
These are lightweight crochet vests with a beautiful circular pattern on the back that creates a mandala effect. Many of them use yarn that slowly changes colors, which gives the pieces a soft ombré look.
Some are flowy and drapey, while others have more of a traditional vest shape. The colors you’ll see throughout the booth will be very much in the Hippie Stitches palette:
-
Teals
-
Dusty pinks
-
Rust and burnt orange
-
Gold tones
-
Browns and creams
It’s a mix that feels very country, vintage, and boho all at once.
I’m also experimenting with a few new designs that feature a tree of life motif inside the mandala, which I’m really excited about.
Crocheted Boleros
Another item I’ll have at the booth is a crocheted bolero.
If you’re not familiar with a bolero, it’s kind of like a short, lightweight shrug. It’s perfect for layering when you want a little bit of coverage but still want to stay cool.
They’re breezy, comfortable, and easy to throw over a tank top or dress.
Handmade Gradient Shawls
And of course… I couldn’t have a booth without shawls.
I know some people think of shawls as old-fashioned, but I absolutely love them. They’re cozy, beautiful, and incredibly versatile.
The ones I’ve been making use a pattern often called the virus shawl or German shells, and I crochet them using gradient cotton yarn that slowly shifts colors as the shawl grows.
The result is a piece that’s soft, lightweight, and full of subtle color changes that make the pattern really stand out.
Because the yarn is more expensive and the process is fairly time-intensive, I won’t have a huge number of these available...but there will definitely be a few special ones at the booth.
A Few Hippie Stitches Extras
In addition to the handmade items and vintage pieces, I’ll also have a few Hippie Stitches branded items available.
Things like small accessories and goodies that let you show a little Hippie Stitches love even if wearing crochet isn’t quite your thing.
