One of my favorite things about being part of the fiber arts community is how crochet can bring together people who might never have crossed paths otherwise.
Through the year, I’ve had the chance to meet so many wonderful makers through Dows Market on Main, and one of those friendships has grown into something really special.
Recently, my friend from The Knotty Sisters reached out wanting help learning how to edit long-form YouTube videos. When she asked how she could pay me, I told her she didn’t need to....but fellow yarn people already know how this story ends...
She asked:
“Can I pay you in yarn?”
And honestly… that might be the best payment method ever!
A Surprise Ice Yarns Haul
As part of our little creative trade, she gifted me several gorgeous colorways of Ice Yarns that fit my personal style perfectly.
Since she mainly works with amigurumi (cute crochet critters and characters) and heavier yarns, some of these finer yarns weren’t really her thing - but they absolutely were mine.
The haul included:
- Beautiful self-striping acrylics
- Rich boho-inspired color palettes
- Roving-style yarns perfect for scarves and shawls
- Soft textures with amazing color transitions
The colors instantly inspired ideas for:
- Bandana scarves
- Boho wraps
- Fringe shawls
- Market accessories
- Lightweight layering pieces
If you know me at all, you already know I was immediately envisioning dramatic crochet shawls paired with vintage music and cozy autumn outfits.
Crochet Community Matters
One thing I’ve really loved about participating in markets like Dows Market on Main is the friendships that grow naturally between vendors and creatives.
What starts as “Hey, your booth is cute!” can quickly turn into:
- sharing ideas,
- encouraging each other,
- swapping creative skills,
- supporting small businesses,
- and occasionally trading yarn for tech help.
That sense of community is honestly one of the best parts of handmade life. Get the details of our next market HERE!
Long-Form Content Coming Soon
One of the reasons I’m especially excited about this collaboration is because The Knotty Sisters are getting ready to branch into more long-form content creation, and I think so many fellow yarn lovers are going to enjoy following along on their journey.
If you love:
- crochet,
- handmade creativity,
- yarn hauls,
- crafty friendships,
- and supporting fellow makers,
make sure you go give them a follow!
You can find them here:
And keep an eye out for future long-form content from them soon. I have a feeling this is just the beginning.
Thanks for Supporting Handmade
Whether you shop small, attend local markets, follow creators online, or simply cheer on fellow makers, your support helps keep creativity alive in communities like ours.
And sometimes… it even leads to surprise yarn hauls and wonderful friendships.
