A Little Birthday Gratitude… and What It Means for Upcoming Market Pieces

This year, my birthday was simple, joyful, and full of the kind of moments that really stick with you… good laughs, thoughtful surprises, and time with people who mean a lot to me.

And like most things in my life… it circled right back to yarn.

I wanted to share a little behind-the-scenes look at what I’ve been working on and how it will shape the pieces you’ll start seeing at upcoming markets.

Thoughtful Gifts & Handmade Details

One of the most special gifts I received this year was a handmade crochet hook from a dear friend.

It’s beautifully crafted, a little more substantial in your hand than a typical hook, and designed with the kind of care that reminds me why handmade matters so much. A HUGE shout out to Sweetpea Cyd's Inspirations!

That same intention is something I carry into every piece I make for Hippie Stitches - taking the time to choose materials, colors, and textures that feel good, look beautiful, and last.

Choosing Yarn With You in Mind

I also had the chance to pick out some new yarns, and I was very intentional about what I chose.

When I’m preparing for markets, I’m always thinking about you and making sure there’s a range of options available:

  • Pieces that are more budget-friendly
  • Pieces that feel a little more elevated or special
  • And collections that coordinate beautifully together

The yarns I picked lean into warm, earthy tones, soft teals, and peachy neutrals… colors that feel timeless, wearable, and easy to style.

Adding a Little Something Extra

One thing I’ve been especially excited about lately is finding simple ways to make certain pieces feel just a little more special.

Sometimes that means:

  • A subtle shimmer woven into the yarn
  • A hint of texture that catches the light
  • Or combining fibers in a way that adds depth and richness

These small details can transform a piece from everyday to something that feels just a bit more elevated, while still keeping it practical and wearable.

What You’ll See at Upcoming Markets

As I work through these new materials, you’ll start to notice:

  • Coordinated color stories across different pieces
  • A mix of simple staples and slightly more detailed designs
  • Lightweight, comfortable items that transition between seasons
  • And a balance between everyday affordability and a few extra-special pieces

My goal is always the same:
To create items that feel good to wear, easy to love, and meaningful to own.

A Thank You

Every time you stop by a booth, share kind words, or take a piece home with you, it truly means more than you know.

This little birthday moment was a reminder of how much I appreciate this community and the opportunity to keep creating for you.

I can’t wait to share these new pieces with you soon

If you’re local, keep an eye out for upcoming market dates, I’d love to see you there.

And as always… thank you for supporting handmade.
