This might surprise you...
Hi, I’m Shannon: the heart, hands, and creative spirit behind Hippie Stitches.
Hippie Stitches is more than just a place to shop handmade crochet pieces. It’s the next chapter of a journey that began years ago with a single hook, a ball of yarn, and a whole lot of help and encouragement from someone very special.
Where It All Began
I learned how to crochet from my dear friend Jeanette in Dows. (You probably know her, but maybe you don't know how talented she is!) She didn’t just teach me stitches, she taught me patience, creativity, and the joy of making something with your own two hands. Jeanette has been an incredible mentor to me over the years, always cheering me on, answering my endless questions, and reminding me that handmade doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful.
Long before Hippie Stitches existed, crochet had already become a steady, grounding presence in my life. It's helped me deal with stress, anxiety and learning to focus.
From Hobby to YouTube
I had been crocheting for several years when I hit “record” and started my YouTube channel. When I did, it wasn’t with a grand plan, it was simply a desire to connect, share what I was learning, and talk honestly about the ups and downs of being a fiber artist.
Over time, that little corner of the internet grew into an amazing community. My channel has allowed me to explore not just crochet itself, but the emotions, challenges, creativity, and self-care that come along with making things by hand. Watching it grow has been both humbling and empowering, and it gave me the confidence to dream a little bigger. If you're a crocheter or knitter you might enjoy my channel, you can check it out HERE. The Next Step: Hippie Stitches
Hippie Stitches is that next step.
This space allows me to bring my love of crochet off the screen and into your hands. Here, I get to focus on creating thoughtful, handcrafted pieces inspired by everything I love most: boho & western style, vintage charm, soulful colors, and slow, intentional living.
Growing a local crochet business feels like a full-circle moment for me. It blends where I started, what I’ve learned, and where I’m headed next. Each piece you see here is made with care, intention, and a deep appreciation for handmade artistry.
The grand opening of Hippie Stitches will be at the Dows Market on Main, April 18th. Get more details HERE. After that, I'm planning on having seasonal product drops and maybe even more markets. Thank You for Being Here
Whether you’re one of the few who's followed my journey for years or you’ve just discovered Hippie Stitches, I’m so glad you’re here. Supporting handmade means supporting stories, relationships, and the beauty of things made slowly.
Thank you for being part of mine!
With Love,
Shannon
